Whether your teen is a beginner or has taken ballet for years, she is welcome at Octorara Ballet!

Teamwork. Not competition.

We focus on team-building through Story Ballet performances. No competitions, just serving our community through beautiful performances.

Pre-Pointe & Pointe Program

Going on pointe will be one of the most memorable accomplishments of her life! Our Pre-Pointe Program prepares her one step at a time. She will rise and, as she does, she will build character & confidence.

Positive philosophy.

Encouragement from teachers and fellow dancers makes our dancers shine!

Each semester students receive a personalized evaluation that focuses on the new skills they have accomplished during the semester.

Budget Friendly.

We keep it simple. No competition fees or performance fees. Monthly tuition includes all costumes! Families who have attended other schools are amazed at our budget-friendly pricing.

“I love the school’s modest approach, excellence in teaching ballet skills, discipline, and kind, caring, invested teachers.”

 FAQs

  • We have a special Pre-Pointe class for dancers in the Junior level and above which prepares them for pointe. After mastering pre-pointe skills and turning 12 years old (by age 12 the bones in the child’s foot can safely support pointe work), dancers are ready to dance on pointe. Our Pre-Pointe teacher will let each dancer know when they are ready.

  • Our teen dancers take two classes/week. Classes include Pre-Pointe or Pointe. This leaves time for dancers to be involved in family and school activities.

  • There are three main reasons:

    1. Competitions promote competitive attitudes among a studio’s parents and among students. We focus on team building instead.

    2. Competitions cost parents thousands of dollars/year. Many parents have no idea how expensive competitions are including entry fees for each competition, extra classes, costumes, coaching fees, travel & hotel expenses.

    3. Most competitions involve lots of sass and booty-shaking. Instead, we focus on teaching our teens to serve others through beautiful community performances and our student teacher program.
